Resources

The resources I list here are by no means all inclusive of the ones I may go to or have discovered.  I am listing the sites that I find the most useful in my investment activities especially when I want to save time and go to what I think of as the best sources.

Economic Resources for Market Posture

Stock Rover (Markets Section)  This site is free and provides a lot of information that will help you gauge the market conditions.  It has many more uses in addition to market posture and should be checked everyday by active traders.  You can get a good layout for where the strength is in the overall markets and asset classes as well as industry strength.  I highly recommend taking the time to explore and learn this site.

Economic Calendar - This calendar contains daily listings of economic reports that impact the stock market.  It's a good thing to check everyday.  It is free.  Subscription for additional data is available but I find that I get the main information I need with the free stuff.  I like this site because the reports are available very quickly after release.

Dividend Resources

The DRiP Investing Resource Center - A good source for Dividend Champion spreadsheet and many other dividend/investor tools and spreadsheet's

The Complete Dividend Aristocrats In Focus Series - An in-depth evaluation of each Dividend Aristocrats.  Also consider subscribing (free) for their news at Sure Dividend by putting your email address in at the top of the page.  One can pay for premium service but it is not necessary as you will get a flow of good dividend articles free of charge worth the space in your mailbox.

Seeking Alpha Income Investment Center - This is a portal for income investing articles, tools, and news.  Articles are by registered authors and you should take the time to review each author's profile page as part of your research into any stocks they may mention in their articles.  You can find calculators and lists of bond funds including closed end funds in the Tools section.  Current news of interest to income investors can be found here as well.

Stock Information

Yahoo Finance - One of the better ones for stock quotes and historical information.  I like the charting on this one.

NASDAQ - This one has a nice feature of letting you save a symbol list in tabs to look at a lot of detail on several stocks.

Morningstar - Morningstar is a good fundamental research site.  Look here when researching a stock to see what they have to say about the fair value of the stock and often times mention the "moat" of a company.  Also if you invest in Closed End Funds they are a good resource.  Premium service is about 150 per year but not necessary for basic research.

Zacks - Zacks is a good resource for earnings information.  Zacks Ranks are based heavily on earnings.  Premium service for Zacks is also around 150 per year but not necessary for basic research.

CEF Connect - One of the best sites for detailed research of Closed End Funds.  Don't miss the education center on this site if you are not sure what a CEF is because these funds are not analyzed in the same manner as regular stocks.

FinViz - A very good free stock screener.  This site also has good information on insider trading.

Stock Charts - Learn about charting and some basic interpretations

Miscellaneous Research, Learning and Information

Stockaholics.net - One way of learning the market is to interact with other investors and be able to bounce questions and ideas off other like minded individual.  This is a free forum that is active and looking to increase participation to make it relevant.  They have an education section in addition to the forum that helps point investors in the right direction.  They are not trying to promote or sell you anything.  They also have a chat area that will allow for voice and text chats to provide some real time interaction.  I recommend this site for a valuable social source keeping in mind it is not a substitute for doing your own homework on stock purchases.  But, it can be a source of information (positive or negative) by bringing up things that may not have turned up in your research.

American Association of Individual Investors - I recommend membership to this group if you are an individual investor.  If for no other reason than to access the various screens they have setup to get solid suggestions for further research.  Their basic membership is $29 per year and you can add Computerized Investing for an addition $20 making the enhanced membership $49 per year.  You get added access to tools and spreadsheets in the enhanced membership.

Business Finance Online - This site is an interesting learning site in understanding how to evaluate the financial condition of a company and spotting value.  A lot of the things on this site can be obtained at online quote sites but this helps break down how they are calculated plus have some info that cannot be obtained unless you calculate yourself.  Information and calculator pages are simply good and the site is free, no advertising and no registration required.
